Shake Rising Facilitator Guide

Where & When to Facilitate Shake Rising

This guide is designed to support you in deciding:

  • Where you want to facilitate

  • How often you want to facilitate

  • How to work with studios

  • How to cultivate participants

  • What support and resources are available to you

Shake Rising is intentionally flexible. There is no single “correct” path.

This guide is meant to be read slowly at the end of your training and revisited as a reference and checklist as you begin facilitating or shift facilitation styles.

PART 1 — Choosing Your Facilitation Environment

(Where do I want to teach?)

Section 1: Location Options

Outdoor Classes

Pros

  • Connection to nature

  • Often lower or no rental cost

  • Expansive and freeing environment

  • Can feel approachable for new students

Cons

  • Weather dependent

  • Sound challenges

  • Less privacy and containment

  • Permits may be required

Key Decision Factors

  • Daylight vs dim studio lighting; lack of mirrors

  • Marketing visibility (may require more effort than a studio collaboration)

  • Depth of emotional container

  • Equipment transport and setup

  • Financial structure / POS system

  • Environmental distractions

  • Privacy

Studio Classes

Pros

  • Controlled environment

  • Built-in student audience (if the studio supports marketing)

  • Sound system and infrastructure (studio-dependent)

  • Greater privacy for emotional work

Cons

  • Rental or revenue split costs

  • Schedule limitations

  • Studio policies and expectations

Key Decision Factors

  • Marketing collaboration

  • Equipment availability (mic, sound system, AC, mats)

  • Schedule options (day vs evening)

  • Mirrors

  • Revenue structure

  • Studio culture alignment

Online Classes

Pros

  • Privacy and comfort for yourself and participants

  • Reduces excuses (e.g., travel)

  • Location & time zone freedom

  • Expanded reach

  • Lower overhead costs

  • Accessible for repeat students

Cons

  • Technology learning curve

  • Reduced physical/energetic feedback

  • Requires stronger verbal facilitation

  • Requires split attention

  • “Online isn’t the same as in person”

Key Decision Factors

  • Technology setup

  • Marketing to digital audiences, including links and POS

  • Personal comfort teaching virtually

  • Building emotional safety online

Section 1.1: Environmental & Experience Considerations

Regardless of location, the environment influences both the Shake container and your facilitation.

Mirrors

  • With mirrors: Easier for participants to focus on self, but may increase self-consciousness. You can face away from participants to reduce intensity.

  • Without mirrors: Encourages deeper internal focus. Facilitator faces participants, using visual cues or mirroring. Easier to notice participant cues; energy may feel stronger.

Eyes Open vs Closed as a Facilitator

  • Closed eyes: Deepens focus, channeling, and may ease nerves. Name this intention to participants.

  • Open eyes: Supports grounding, orientation, and connection.

Daytime vs Evening

  • Daytime can feel more intense in a studio; acknowledge potential awkwardness.

  • Evening may offer more privacy.

Lighting

  • Avoid harsh indoor lights or direct outdoor sunlight.

Sound & Acoustics

  • Test volume, clarity, and echo. Outdoor spaces require strong speakers and clear cueing; indoor spaces may have poor acoustics.

Emotional Safety & Depth

  • Public/bright spaces → lighter activation

  • Private/contained spaces → deeper release

  • Let the environment guide the intensity; depth is not forced

✨ Trust your awareness — it’s part of the medicine.

PART 2 — Choosing How Often You Facilitate

Section 2: Weekly vs Monthly vs Pop-Up

Weekly Classes
Pros

  • Builds strong community

  • Predictable income potential

  • Supports facilitator skill growth

  • Supports personal growth

  • Consistency makes it easy for participants to commit

Cons

  • Higher time commitment

  • Requires consistent marketing

  • Constant content creation

Best For

  • Facilitators building a steady student base

  • Facilitators wanting repetition and refinement

Monthly Classes
Pros

  • Sustainable pacing

  • Allows time for marketing and integration

  • Often high-attendance events

Cons

  • Slower community momentum

  • Requires individual event promotion

Best For

  • Facilitators balancing multiple offerings

  • Facilitators prioritizing depth over frequency

Pop-Up Classes
Pros

  • Flexible scheduling

  • Creative expression opportunities

  • Great for collaborations or special events

Cons

  • Less predictable attendance

  • Requires individual event promotion

Best For

  • Facilitators testing new markets or locations

  • Facilitators wanting seasonal or creative offerings

PART 3 — Studio Pathways

(If you choose studio facilitation)

Section 3: Being on a Studio Schedule vs Renting Space

Option 1 — Studio Schedule

Pros

  • Built-in marketing support (usually)

  • Access to existing community (usually)

  • Less logistical management

Cons

  • Revenue splits

  • Less scheduling control

  • More often weekly than monthly

Option 2 — Renting Space

Pros

  • Keep majority of revenue

  • Flexible scheduling for monthly or pop-up classes

  • Access to client list

Cons

  • Full marketing & POS responsibility

  • Upfront financial investment

Section 3.1: Studio Checklist Before You Agree to Teach

Sound + Microphone

  • Speaker system availability

  • Microphone access

  • Volume capabilities

Space Environment

  • Mirrors, lighting, privacy, room size/layout, mats, AC, cleanliness, smell, resonance

Marketing Collaboration

  • Clarify what studio support is offered: reposts vs co-creation vs full marketing

  • Frequency and type of support (stories, posts, videos, email list inclusion)

Logistics

  • Rental cost or revenue split

  • Cancellation policies

  • Setup and breakdown time

Privacy + Containment

  • Other class types present

  • Noise from neighboring spaces

PART 4 — Studio Outreach Tools

Section 4: Studio Outreach Email Template

Subject: Bringing Shake Rising to [Studio Name]

Hi [Studio Name] Team,

or

Hi [Studio Owner’s Name],

My name is [Your Name], and I am a Shake Rising Facilitator in [your location]. I am reaching out to inquire if you would be open to offering the Shake Rising movement practice at your studio!

I love what you offer at [Studio Name]—your focus on [mention something specific about the studio’s community, values, or class offerings] really resonates with me. I see Shake Rising as a perfect complement to your space, supporting embodiment, emotional release, and connection [write what words resonate with you].

The Shake Rising movement practice is a 60-minute transformational movement practice that combines fitness, dance, shaking, and affirmations to create a deeply freeing and empowering experience (change this to 75 minutes if your Shake is a 60-minute playlist). You can learn more about the practice at shakerising.com, where there’s even a free 15-minute practice available if you’d like to try it out first.

It would be such an honor to offer Shake Rising at [Studio Name], as this practice has been life-altering for myself and so many other women in our community, and I want to continue to offer this practice which gives way to so much freedom and connection [show the studio a bit about your why]!

Please let me know if you have any other questions about Shake Rising or if you’d be open to meet and talk more!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Warmly, [Your Name] [Your Contact Information]

Optional Notes:

  • If clear about wanting to be on the schedule, mention that. Proactively look to see where they may have pockets in their schedule.

  •  If clear about wanting to rent the studio, mention that. Proactively look to see where they may have pockets in their schedule.

  • If you are open to either being on the schedule or renting the space, add a line offering both options or leave it as is.

  • If the studio responds that the schedule is full or uncertain, proactively suggest a rental arrangement:

"I understand if your schedule is currently full or if Shake Rising is new to your community. If it’s a better fit, I’d love to explore a rental arrangement instead. I noticed you offer classes most evenings at 6 PM, so I’m curious if a rental option outside of those times might work. Would love to chat more about what’s possible!"
