Why Shake Rising?
Because the spaces we create become culture.
So much of movement culture has taught us to perform—to look a certain way, move the “right” way, push past our bodies, compare ourselves, and make ourselves more palatable to the people around us.
Shake Rising creates a different kind of room.
One where movement isn't about how it looks.
Where expression doesn't have to be pretty.
Where women can practice using their voices, taking up space, feeling what they actually feel, and being witnessed without needing to perform any of it.
And when we create spaces like this together, something bigger happens.
We aren't just teaching a movement class. We're practicing a different way of being with ourselves + each other.
